PBIS @ Oak Street
Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS)
In 2002, Oak Street School joined the first group of NYS schools implementing Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS). PBIS is a state-wide initiative designed to increase the ability of schools to reduce inappropriate student behaviors.
Since 2002, our faculty and staff have been developing a more positive school environment by defining, teaching, monitoring and rewarding positive behavior, while still holding students responsible for their actions.
By reducing behavioral problems, PBIS creates and maintains safe learning environments where teachers can teach and students can learn.
